The Witcher season 3 is upon us, and we are getting closer and closer to Henry Cavill’s final spell as the beloved Geralt of Rivea, but The Witcher producers over at Netflix don’t seem to be slowing down or letting the situation affect them.
In a recent interview with Aftonbladet, a Swedish outlet, Dolph Lundgren shares that he has joined the cast of a future The Witcher spin-off series. Rumor has it that the spin-off series featuring the “Rats”, which was leaked earlier this year, might be connected to this spin-off series that he’s talking about. There has been no news from Netflix about the series yet.
The Rats first appeared in the book “Time of Contempt”. The upcoming season 3 of The Witcher is largely based on that book, so we might get introduced to the Rats or at least given some easter eggs of some sort when the season releases in June and July.
A leaked synopsis for the “Rats” spin-off series allegedly known as “Riff Raff” will see a group of teenage thieves who “must rely on their criminal skills as they plan the biggest heist of their careers against the most dangerous crime ring in the kingdom.” Lundgren could play a great character who stars opposite them and tries to bar them from being successful.
Again, these are just speculatory, as time goes on we will begin to get official news. But with Dolph Lundgren’s impressive Hollywood career, he can play any role he’s given. He starred in the Rocky movie series, The Expendables, 1989’s Creed II, the CW’s Arrow, and many others.
It’s going to be interesting to see how things develop with this new spin-off series, but Dolph joining The Witcher-verse is a big W for them, and it’s going to be exciting to see what he does on the show.
Stay tuned for more information on this and other upcoming projects around Hollywood.
