There aren’t many actors in the movie business that can captivate an audience with their fight scenes and martial arts prowess like Donnie Yen does, and he knows that himself. What the people want is what the people get and Donnie understood the assignment with his new movie, SAKRA.
There are not many movie types that I love more than that nostalgic Chinese fighting style with the characters gliding through the air. A style that we have grown to love, from Jet Li to Jackie Chan to Michelle Yeow, the list is endless. Donnie is a master of this himself and drives it yet again in this new drama/action movie.
SAKRA is an adaptation of the Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils Novel written by Jin Yong. The movie stars Chen Yugi, Cya Liu, Kara Wai, Eddie Cheung, and many more. SAKRA follows a martial artist (Qiao Feng) who is accused of murder. He then goes on the run in search of answers about his own mysterious origins and the unknown enemies out to destroy him.
From the trailer, Qiao Feng looks to 1 vs 200 his enemies in the majority of the fight scenes. This one is going to be a lot of fun to watch. It is unforgivable to miss a Donnie Yen movie of this quality. The movie has a budget of ¥150 million. It was already released back in January but for only Malaysia, China, and most parts of Asia. The movie will be released in the US on the 14th of April.
