Guardians of the Galaxy star Karen Gillan would love to play Poison Ivy in the new DCU

When James Gunn and Peter Safran announced the new DCU and their plans for it, a plethora of opportunities opened up for multiple actors across the globe, in terms of all the future characters that will be introduced one way or another as time goes on in the new Universe. This means that there are multiple roles to be filled and a multitude of amazing actors to choose from.

Casting has barely begun in the DCU for the first Chapter of the new Universe which is titled God and Monsters. We have only seen the casting for Creature Commandos, and it was absolutely fantastic. Superman himself hasn’t been cast yet for the Superman: Legacy movie set for 2025. But as time goes on we will begin to hear more news about castings in the DCU and I can’t wait.

Now, Karen Gillan, who plays Nebula in the fan-favorite Marvel movie series Guardians Of The Galaxy, says she would love the opportunity to play Poison Ivy in the new DCU. I’ve got just one word: YES! James Gunn and Peter Safran need to make it happen. Karen is a great actress and has proven it time and again in her movies. From the GOTG franchise to the Jumanji movie franchise, and many others.

She is also a redhead, and perfect for the Poison Ivy role. And who better than Karen Gillan to play a plant/human hybrid opposite Batman? As you know, Nebula is a hybrid character too, who was constantly altered by Thanos as she was growing up.

Another reason why the chances of this happening are very high is that she also knows James Gunn on a personal level, as James has written and directed all three Volumes of the Guardians Of The Galaxy movies. And the third installment is about to be released in a few days. The actors in GOTG helped James Gunn through a tough period in his life when he lost his job amongst other things, and Karen was one of the actors who rallied behind him.

James Gunn himself said that he is open to casting actors from Marvel (specifically GOTG) in DCU roles when rumors came up that Chris Pratt might be cast as Booster Gold. James, I cannot and will not tell you what to do but Karen Gillan is perfect for the Poison Ivy role, and fans on Twitter are excited about the idea and want to see her get the role. It’s up to James Gunn and Peter Safran to decide whether to consider her and cast her or not.
