Even with the amount of backlash Season 8 of Game of Thrones got, it is still praised as one of the greatest series of all time, and its success paved the way for many more spin-offs, be they prequels or sequels. The amazing success of the first season of House of the Dragon is also a big encouragement that the Game of Thrones universe can thrive with multiple spin-offs from different timelines.
We’ve heard news about a possible Jon Snow sequel but things are a bit up in the air with that particular one. We don’t know for sure if we will ever see it or if we will see it any time soon. Another spinoff that we heard rumors about was scrapped totally. But now we are getting word that HBO is planning out a prequel series to Game of Thrones called “The Seven Knights of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight”. It is set to run for a total of three seasons.
The plot of the series will be derived from George RR Martins’s three novellas in “The Tales of Dunk and Egg”. The books include The Hedge Hound (1998), The Sworn Sword (2003), and The Mystery Knight (2010). The books follow the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall, and a young Aegon V Targaryen, who are known as Dunk and Egg.
We patiently await more news concerning this interesting prequel series, and I hope it does get approved and casting and production can start soon. It would be nice to have at least one Game of Thrones series each year, instead of waiting for almost two years before a new season of an existing show is released.
