Right before I watched the trailer I could still hear the TMNT Nickelodeon series theme song in my head, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who did. That’s how iconic the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles universe is, and now we’re getting ANOTHER TMNT movie and it looks nothing short of amazing.
When you’re talking star-studded casts there are levels to them, and this movie knocks the very definition right out of the park. They’ve also given us one of the greatest castings of all time by making Jackie Chan voice Master Splinter – he was literally made for the role. The cast includes:
Jackie Chan – Master Splinter
Seth Rogen – Bebop
Nicolas Cantu – Leonardo
Shamon Brown Jr. – Michelangelo
Brady Noon – Raphael
Micah Abbey – Donatello
Ayo Edebiri – April O’Neil
Jackie Chan – Splinter
John Cena – Rocksteady
Rose Byrne- Leatherhead
Ice Cube- Superfly
Giancarlo Esposito – Baxter Stockman
Post Malone – Ray Fillet
Paul Rudd – Mondo Gecko
Maya Rudolph – Cynthia Utrom
Natasia Demetriou- Wingnut
I mean, look at this cast! Look at it, it doesn’t get much better than this. Although animated movies are known for bringing in a lot of big names to voice-act, this is stellar. Of course, the turtles are voiced by teenagers because the turtles are indeed teenagers but outside of them these are some big names.
From the trailer, we see the movie adapts this new animation art style that we’ve seen in recent times. An art style that is similar to Spider-man: Into The Spider-verse, Puss In Boots, Arcane, and a few others, and it looks great.
The trailer sees the turtles looking to explore their city (as always) as they yearn to know what it feels like to live a normal life like a regular teenager. They find that other mutants like themselves live in the shadows of the surface world too. And that group of mutants is led by one particular one named “Superfly”, who looks to annihilate humans so that mutants can live a good normal life too without the fear of being harmed by people. The turtles now have to do what they do best and band together to stop the threat that these mutants pose to humanity.
This year is bringing us banger after banger after banger, and we’re here for it. The movie has a release date of August 2nd later this year, it’s going to be epic!
COWABUNGA!
