If you have been paying attention to Netflix’s recent flood of Tudum trailers, you would know that they are not playing around this year. 2023 might be Netflix’s best movie year yet. So many movies with so many different movie genres, it’s almost like Netflix is celebrating its birthday with every future release of these movies.
Enough said about that, let’s take a look at the top 10 movies you need to watch on Netflix in 2023.
- Rebel Moon
If you are familiar with the workings of the movie industry then you probably know who Zach Snyder is. Known for his elite work across multiple movies, the director, producer, screenwriter, and cinematographer is up there with some of the best in the game. And when Zach says he wants to make a movie franchise in the ranks of something similar to Star Wars, you can be sure it will be an absolute banger.
When the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius threaten a colony at the edge of the galaxy, a young woman with a mysterious past is sent to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them take a stand.
2. Extraction 2
They really had us there with the ending of the first installment, they really did. We know now from the few teasers that have been released that Tyler Rake is indeed alive. Alive and well, and he is back for more insane-level, action-packed missions. If you thought Extraction was good, wait till you see Extraction 2.
3. You People
A comedic masterpiece from beginning to end. You People is such a good movie, one that some couples can relate to in terms of cultural and religious differences with their respective families. We also got to see Lauren London back on the big screen for the first time in a while, and she was fantastic.
You People is a drama-filled love story centered on Ezra and Amira. How they find each other in the most annoying of ways, but fall in love with each other, nonetheless. But falling in love with themselves was the easy part. They now have to deal with each other’s families who have entirely different cultures and religious views. Can their love survive through all of the chaos, or will their families break them and ruin their chances at a lifetime together?
4. They Cloned Tyrone
Jamie Foxx, Teyonah Parris, and John Boyega star in the sci-fi comedy. In the first look at the movie, the trio is seen breaking into a scientific facility that leads to them uncovering government secrets about the endangerment of a black neighborhood, involving experiments, kidnappings, and surveillance. This one will probably have you rolling out your seats right from the start.
5. Your Place or Mine
Reese Weatherspoon and Ashton Kutcher lead this interesting romantic comedy. Debbie and Peter are best friends and total opposites. She craves routine with her son in LA, but he thrives on change in NY. When they swap houses and lives for a week they discover what they think they want might not be what they really need.
6. Damsel
Millie, Millie, Millie. I have a feeling she is about to blow us away with her performance on this one. Damsel follows a young woman who agrees to marry a handsome prince — only to discover it was all a trap. She is thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon and must rely solely on her wits and will to survive.
That is one messed-up family. Who throws Millie Bobby Brown into a fire-breathing dragon’s cave? Well, it does look like she can handle herself. This one is going to be intriguing to watch.
7. Murder Mystery 2
Adam Sandler? Jennifer Aniston? Back again for another Murder Mystery movie? Yh, sign me up. The sequel sees the pair reprise their roles as Nick and Audrey Splitz, who have now launched their own agency as private detectives. Unfortunately, they land right in the middle of an international investigation when a friend is abducted.
8. Heart Of Stone
I am a simple person, I see Gal Gadot in a movie, and I watch it. Rachel Stone is an intelligence operative, the only woman who stands between her powerful, global, peacekeeping organization and the loss of its most valuable — and dangerous — asset.
Most (if not all) movies that have Gal Gadot in them can always guarantee you top-tier, fast-paced action. Heart of Stone is no different. You do not want to miss out on this.
9. Pain Hustlers
This star-studded movie led by Chris Evans and Emily Blunt follows Liza Drake who upon losing her job, a blue-collar woman struggling to raise her daughter takes a job at a failing pharmaceutical startup, only to get involved in a dangerous racketeering scheme.
From the plot, it is easy to tell that this one is packed with thrilling drama throughout the movie. Anything with Chris Evans in it is pure gold, and the same goes for Emily Blunt.
10. Lift
This movie is possibly going to give us a look at Kevin Hart in his more serious element. We have only seen a little glimpse of the movie, so it’s hard to tell. But one thing we do know is that this movie is as badass as they get.
An international heist crew is recruited to prevent a terrorist attack and must pull off the heist on a plane mid-flight.
2023 is looking really good for Netflix as far as movies are concerned. You do not want to miss out on any of the action.
