Top 5 series to watch in June 2023

2023 has been every movie and series lover’s dream. It’s been banger after banger after banger being dropped every single month. We’re not even allowed to fully soak in how good one is before we’re presented with the next, but who am I to complain? Bring them all on.

June is a great month for series, with probably some of the best series for the year being released this month. With that said, here are the top 5 series you need to be watching this June.

  1. The Witcher

It’s time for some more Witcher action as Henry Cavill returns for his final season as Geralt, alongside Anya Charlotra (Yennifer) and Freya Allen (Ciri). To some fans, this is the last season of The Witcher as they do not want to see Henry leave. It might have been common knowledge for a while that he was leaving the show, Henry looks to have put on a great performance for his final season. The official plot reads:

“As monarchs, mages and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri of Cintra into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it.

“Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to discover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line – or risk losing each other forever.”

The first part of The Witcher season 3 releases on the 29th of June.

2. Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan

This might be one of the most underrated shows on the planet but it is definitely, without a doubt, one of the best series out there. And it is returning for its fourth and final season. Great shows like this don’t need to end but I can respect their decision, and from the looks of the trailer, they’re closing the CIA spy series out with a bang. The plot for the fourth and final season reads:

“As Jack and the team investigate how deep the corruption runs, he discovers a far-worse reality—the convergence of a drug cartel with a terrorist organization—ultimately revealing a conspiracy much closer to home and testing our hero’s belief in the system he has always fought to protect.”

The final season releases on June 30. You don’t want to miss this one.

The miniseries stars a long list of great and accomplished actors like Emilia Clarke, Ben Mendelsohn, Martin Freeman, Don Cheadle, and many others alongside Samuel L. The miniseries follows Nick Fury and his allies, who have to band together and stop the Skrull from invading Earth. Secret Invasion releases on the 21st of June. So, get ready for all the action, and drama that we’ve come to know Marvel for. Secret Invasion releases exclusively on Disney+

4. Never Have I Ever

The final season of Never Have I Ever is here and it does great justice to every single character rather than focusing on just the main character as some series/movies do.

Season 4 follows Devi in her final year of high school as she goes through multiple relationship dramas while trying to secure her spot in her dream school, Princeton. Season 4 was the best it could be and there is nothing more you could have added or even removed.

You’re guaranteed laughter, drama, and a lot of “SMH ” moments from Devi’s actions as usual. All episodes of Never Have I Ever are currently available to stream on Netflix.

5. Hijack

Coming to Apple TV+ this June is their new thriller series, Hijack. The series follows Sam Nelson (Idris Elba) who is one of the 200 other people on a plane that was hijacked by a handful of ghosts (people whose identities don’t exist in the database). It’s a 7-hour flight from Dubai to London, and these people have requests that must be met, and if they’re not met the consequences will be dire.

What they don’t know is that Nelson is an accomplished negotiator in the business industry. It is now up to him to do his best to negotiate with these criminals while buying him and the other passengers time to work out a plan to retake control of the plane.

Hijack will be released on the 28th of June exclusively on Apple TV+.
